In remembrance of our late keyboard player, Kevin, here is his profile.

Kevin Tayler Keyboard

Kevin Tayler has been playing piano for around 65 years and trying to play jazz piano for almost as long. After attending various workshops and summer schools in the 2000s, he has been a member of a small group playing mainly 'standards' for more than 10 years but only got into the big band scene a couple of years ago. His preference is for the music of the great big bands of the 1930s through to 1950s, particularly the various Basie bands.

Favourite pianists include Art Tatum - as much for his harmonic sense as for the dazzling runs, Teddy Wilson and Bud and Richie Powell. However, he also enjoys listening to live music and is impressed by the number of good young musicians on the UK scene these days
